Farry Announces Committee Assignments

Rep. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) today announced his committee assignments for the 2011-12 legislative session.  In addition to continuing to serve on the Consumer Affairs Committee and the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, Farry will serve on the Local Government and Health Committees.

“I am very pleased with my committee assignments for this session,” Farry said.  “Each of these panels will deal with issues that have a direct impact on the 142nd District.”

Farry added that he is especially happy to continue serving on the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, which considers legislation related to Pennsylvania’s military veterans and emergency responders, including fire fighters and emergency medical technicians.

“As the fire chief for the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, I offer the unique perspective of someone who actually works in the emergency services field,” Farry said.  “As the committee considers legislation impacting Pennsylvania’s first responders, it is vitally important those first responders have a voice in the process.  As a local fire chief, I am that voice on this committee.”

Farry added that as a former assistant township manager for Middletown Township, he brings personal experience to the work of the Local Government Committee, which reviews bills dealing with the municipal codes by which local governments operate.

“Having worked in local government for nearly eight years, I understand the issues facing our local officials” said Farry.  “My experience as a local government official will guide my decision making as a member of this committee.”

Farry also is pleased to be serving on the Health Committee, which will develop policies related to health care, including the Federal Health Care Reform Act and the impact it has on Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program.

“I am very pleased to be a member of this committee,” Farry added.  “With Bucks County’s largest employer, St. Mary Medical Center, located in my district, the health care field is vital and a local economic driver.”
