Farry Appointed Deputy House Majority Whip

Rep. Frank Farry (R-Bucks) today announced House Majority Whip Stan Saylor (R-York) has appointed him deputy House majority whip for the 2011-12 legislative session.

“We are facing a number of difficult challenges in this legislative session including a stagnant economy, widespread unemployment, and a multi-billion dollar budget deficit,” Farry said.  “Solving these problems will require strong leadership.  I appreciate the confidence Representative Saylor has shown in me with this appointment and I look forward to working with him.”

Deputy whips have a variety of responsibilities on the House floor, including assisting with member head counts and helping to promote certain tough issues facing the House Republican Caucus. They also keep Saylor informed about problems that members may have, or issues that might have an effect on the legislative agenda and on the caucus as a whole.

“In the last legislative session, Representative Farry showed exceptional leadership qualities which earned him the respect of his House colleagues,” said Saylor.  “I am grateful to him for agreeing to serve as one of my deputies in this legislative session.”
